Kundalini is described as a sleeping, dormant potential force in the human organism

Etymologically the Sanskrit adjective kuṇḍalin means “circular, annular”.

It does occur as a noun for “a snake” (in the sense “coiled”, as in “forming ringlets”) in the 12th-century

This sculpture represents the union of the masculine and the feminine principles.

Another name for this sculpture is Caduceus, the traditional symbol of Hermes.
